Review Good "Vanilla Sky answers all the questions it poses and
wraps up most (if not all) of the dangling plot threads. However, while the
explanations come in the final fifteen minutes, the most rewarding aspect of the
film is the journey to that point - trying to outguess the script, enjoying the
carefully constructed romance and appreciating the details and nuances
contributed by a director who knows what he's doing. ''
Review Good "Think it all the way through, and Cameron Crowe's
"Vanilla Sky" is a scrupulously moral picture. I've seen it two
times. I went to a second screening because after the first screening I thought
I knew what had happened, but was nagged by the idea that certain things might
not have happened the way I thought they had. Now that I've seen it twice, I
think I understand it, or maybe not.''
Review Above Average "Dazzling in parts but rough going as a whole,
writer/director Crowe's variation is, of all things, tedious (a first for him),
especially in early scenes. Veering close to discomforting self-parody as a
has-it-all magazine magnate, Cruise fails to click with his role from the start
— and even in later scenes, when the idea of a cover-boy actor sporting a
wrecked face would seem to have dramatic possibilities.''

Review Below Average "An overblown Twilight Zone episode, this
nearly scene-for-scene remake of 1998's slickly creepy "Open Your
Eyes" feels enervated and logy, its energy sucked into the vacuum of Tom
Cruise's star power.''

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
We collected 169 moviegoer opinions. WOW, what a surprise. Most moviegoers did not enjoy "Vanilla Sky." It is extremely rare to see a movie receive so many very low opinions. I would recommend that you read all that we provide for this movie before deciding to see it. From these opinions I would say your chances of enjoying this movie are very low, UNLESS your taste in movies runs close to that of movie critics, who enjoyed "Vanilla Sky," as did a few of our moviegoers.
The one main complaint was that the story was very confusing. You couldn't tell what was going on. This same thing is what the moviegoers who rated this movie high, said they liked about the movie. So, if you enjoy strange storylines that make you think and try to figure out what's going on, you will probably enjoy "Vanilla Sky."
