In this Capra-esque drama set during the 1950's blacklist, a young, ambitious Hollywood screenwriter loses his job and his identity, only to find new courage, love and the power of conviction in the heart of a small town.
Comedy Romantic - A very feel good movie with a few tears that most will enjoy. The
pace and story may be a bit too slow for the younger crowd. Children
will likely be bored.
PROFANITY: No F-words but 3 GD's. A few milder ones. SEX/NUDITY: None VIOLENCE: None DRUGS/ALCOHOL: None ACTION: None COMEDY: Although this is not a comedy, it does have a fair amount of humor.

Good "For those craving a large helping of nostalgia with a topping
of crowd-pleasing patriotism, there are few choices better than The Majestic.
Most people will leave with a smile reflecting the warm glow within. The film is
unashamed of its feel-good intentions and, in that, is a throwback.''

Very Good "..this is not a sober political picture. It's a sweet
romantic comedy starring Jim Carrey, and it involves a case of mistaken identity
and an attack of amnesia, those handy plot devices from time immemorial. It
flies the flag in honor of our World War II heroes, and evokes nostalgic for
small-town movie palaces and the people who run them. It makes us feel about as
good as any movie made this year.''

Average "A heartwarming melodrama pickled in calculated old-fashionedness.
Screenwriter Michael Sloane and director Frank Darabont seem to have conceived
this nostalgic tear-jerker in the tradition of HAIL THE CONQUERING HERO, without
noticing that Preston Sturges's response to small-town patriotism was an
astringent shot of satire, not Capra-esque comfort food..'' Note: The rating above is our
