Storyline Heading
A rare inside look at the professional and personal lives of two Los Angeles Police Department officers. Joe Gavilan, a hard-nosed veteran and his reluctant partner K.C. Calden, who is more interested in teaching yoga and pursuing an acting career than he is in detective work.

Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Action Comedy - A typical police drama with some chase scenes and gun battles. They try for the funny, wisecracking, buddy cop effect found in Lethal Weapon and it works to some degree. Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett just don't seem to have the chemistry Mel Gibson and Danny Glover do.

The above rating is an average of the critic reviews below.

James Berardinelli, Internet Critic  Full Review
Average "There are times when I wish the action-comedy buddy film had never been invented. For every 48 Hours or Lethal Weapon that gets the ingredients right, it seems that I have to endure dozens of films like Hollywood Homicide – lumbering, overlong bores that fail to grasp the essential elements necessary to make this sort of movie an enjoyable experience. There are some laughs to be had here, but they are islands in a becalmed ocean.''

Roger Ebert  Full Review
Good "One of the pleasures of "Hollywood Homicide" is that it's more interested in its two goofy cops than in the murder plot; their dialogue redeems otherwise standard scenes. It's kind of a double act, between a man who has seen everything and a man who seen too much.''

USA TODAY  Full Review
Average "The lineup makes a labored comedy laced with PG-13 violence sound like more fun than it is. But there is some combination of poignancy and undeniable amusement in watching "Indiana" Ford labor so hard to play a guy who's down and out, something he did to very funny effect as one of the best things about 1998's Six Days Seven Nights.''

TV Guide Online  Full Review
Below Average "This shaggy dog story about the intersection of celebrity worship and police work gets bogged down in a protracted climactic comic chase scene, but it's periodically enlivened by unlikely cameos, including Lou Diamond Phillips as an undercover cop posing as a transvestite hooker and Gladys Knight as a forgotten Motown singer.''

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

These are certainly some mixed opinions. Some enjoyed it very much, some thought it was just OK and some didn't care for it. With opinions like this there's no way I can accurately predict who might enjoy it. However, since a relatively small percentage actually disliked Hollywood Homicide I would say that most will probably find it to be enjoyable, at least to some degree.

Cinema Review Prediction: (before moviegoer opinions are collected)
My prediction isn't needed since we collected moviegoer opinions at a sneak a week early.

D ETAILED S TORYLINE
Harrison Ford portrays veteran detective Joe Gavilan {Harrison Ford), a weary but tenacious police veteran at the top of his game professionally, though his personal life is rapidly unraveling. His partner, K.C. Calden (Josh Hartnett), seems to be more interested in his side jobs as a yoga teacher and aspiring actor than in the high-profile gangland-style murder they are currently investigating.

Welcome to the land of blue skies, palm trees and dead bodies.
