Gigli is ordered to kidnap the psychologically challenged younger brother of a powerful federal prosecutor. When plans go awry, Gigli's boss sends in Ricki, a gorgeous, free-spirited female gangster who has her own set of orders, to assist with the kidnapping. But Gigli begins falling for the decidedly unavailable Ricki, which could be a hazard to his occupation.
Drama - This is NOT a lighthearted romantic comedy! It is often a harsh,
dark, mean spirited story with excessive profanity and graphic
sexual talk. There are some light moments, but they are
almost all near the end of the movie. Also, it's difficult to
understand some of the dialog.
PROFANITY: 113 F-words, 1 GD, 8 S-words, 7 A-words. Several others. SEX/NUDITY: Quite a bit of graphic sexual talk and one sex scene. No nudity. VIOLENCE: One graphic shot to the head, bloody. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some minor drinking. ACTION: None COMEDY: A lot of humor, but most of it is dark or sexual in nature.

Review Above Average "So the movie doesn't work. The ending especially
doesn't work, and what's worse, it doesn't work for a long time, because it
fails to work for minute after minute, and includes dialogue which is almost
entirely unnecessary. But there is good stuff here.''
Review Poor "Gigli is the rare movie that never seems to take off,
but also never seems to end. It tries hard to titillate, but ends up making
audiences want to avert their eyes.''

Review Very Poor "Martin Brest's grotesque misfire of a light-hearted
crime picture is torpedoed by the dismal lack of on-screen chemistry between Ben
Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, whose off-screen affair overshadowed the production.''
Review Below Average "We can now confirm, beyond a doubt, that there is
indeed on-screen chemistry between Jennifer Lopez and her off-camera fiance, Ben
Affleck. There also is chemistry between an overripe peach and a mushy banana.
Throw them in a blender with a cup of milk and voila, the flavors cancel each

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
We were only able to collect 69 moviegoer opinions. This was not a well attended movie. If fact, it was a dud, only bringing in $3.8 million its opening weekend.
From looking at the extremely low moviegoer opinions we collected, moviegoers were certainly smart to skip this movie.
Teens seem to be the only age group that enjoyed Gigli. There were a few from the other age and gender groups that actually enjoyed it, but a very large percentage didn't like it at all. And a lot of moviegoers thought it was terrible, which is very rare.
Your chances of enjoying Gigli are very low. Those going just to see the two main actors will have the best chance of enjoying Gigli.
Cinema Review Prediction: (before moviegoer opinions are collected)
I believe there's going to be a LOT of very disappointed Ben and Jo Lo fans! This is NOT the romantic comedy many will be expecting. It's not even close. It's very dark and mean. Ben's character is not the least bit likeable for most of the movie. He's mean and cruel and not very bright. I don't predict a very good response from Gigli. I believe it will receive MANY very poor opinions. The few high opinions it may receive will most likely come from the twentysomething crowd, but I have my doubts they will enjoy it.
Larry Gigli (Ben
Affleck), a low-level hood is given a high-level assignment to kidnap Brian
(Justin Bartha), the psychologically challenged younger brother of a powerful
federal prosecutor to help save a mob boss from going to prison.
Hiding out in his
one-bedroom apartment with Brian, Gigli is shocked when Ricki (Jennifer Lopez),
a gorgeous, free-spirited female enforcer is sent to assist him because his boss
thinks he's likely to screw up.
And from that moment
on, Gigli's world is turned upside down.
Gigli finds himself
falling in love with the unavailable Ricki and goes to extreme lengths to win
her affection. The more she resists, the stronger the attraction becomes.
By letting their
feelings get in the way of business, Gigli and Ricki set in motion an unlikely
chain of events that just could endanger their plans for a long-term
relationship – and their lives.
