A wild and rambunctious mustang stallion journeys through the untamed American frontier. Encountering man for the first time, Spirit defies being broken, even as he develops a remarkable friendship with a young Lakota brave named Little Creek. The courageous young stallion also finds love with a beautiful paint mare named Rain on his way to becoming one of the greatest unsung heroes of the Old West.
Animated - A cute, exciting, touching, "feel-good" animated adventure suitable
for the entire family. The story is easy enough for even the little
ones to understand, yet easily entertaining enough for adults.
PROFANITY: None SEX/NUDITY: None VIOLENCE: A few scenes of mild violence. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: None ACTION: Plenty of action to keep everyone entertained. COMEDY: This is not a comedy, but it has a lot of humor.

Very Good "A solemn neo-Bambi that dares to enchant kids
without comic relief, Spirit is an animated fairy tale made with simple,
elegant conviction. It has its dawdling moments, yet in its very square way, it
brings back some of the primal storybook innocence that has been squeezed out of
the form in recent years by the attention-deficit vaudeville showiness of
James Berardinelli, Internet Critic
Good "Parents accompanying their offspring will not be bored out of
their minds by Spirit. The storyline is simple but engaging; however,
this isn't the kind of motion picture that lone adults will seek out. Those for
whom Spirit was made will find this to be a thoroughly enjoyable
production. As a 'kids' movie', Spirit is a resounding success.''

Good "The animals do not speak in Spirit:... and I think
that's important to the film's success. It elevates the story from a children's
fantasy to one wider audiences can enjoy, because although the stallion's
adventures are admittedly pumped-up melodrama, the hero is nevertheless a horse
and not a human with four legs. There is a whole level of cuteness that the
movie avoids, and a kind of narrative strength it gains in the process.''

Poor "Think THE LION KING redone for horses, with fewer deliberate
laughs, more inadvertent ones and stunningly trite songs by Bryan Adams, the
world's most generic rock star. Think also an unholy mess that's far too intense
and frightening for the small children who are its intended demographic ..., and
is, at best, a real camp hoot for any hapless adult trapped into watching it.'' Note: The rating
