Everything that farmer Graham Hess assumed about the world is changed when he discovers a message, an intricate pattern of circles and lines, carved into his crops. As he investigates the unfolding mystery, what he finds will forever alter the lives of his brother and children.
Thriller - This is sort of an alien movie but it's not. Nearly the entire movie
takes place on the family farm and the story focuses primarily on
the family and how they cope with what occurs. It's certainly not an
action movie. It's more an edge-of-your-seat drama with some
genuinely scary moments that will make you jump several times. It
also has a high level of humor to break the tension. The humor is
certainly never intentional, it's just the funny things that happen
in life, especially during stressful times. This movie should appeal
to a very wide audience.
PROFANITY: 3 S-words, 2 A-words. Just a few milder words. SEX/NUDITY: None VIOLENCE: Almost no violence, but several scary threats. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: None ACTION: No real action. Just some intense moments. COMEDY: An incredible amount of humor for this type of movie.

Review Good "Signs, the lushly ominous new alien-visitation
thriller, is a very well-crafted tease. Written, produced, and directed by M.
Night Shyamalan, it's a high-octane doomsday vision built almost entirely around
our sense of anticipation, and that's both its strength and its weakness.''
James Berardinelli, Internet Critic
Review Good "Like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, Signs
is not easily pigeonholed into a single genre. It gleefully crosses boundaries
and defies classification. In many ways, it is Shyamalan's most accomplished
film to date. Unlike The Sixth Sense, it doesn't rely on bamboozling the
audience. And, irrespective of its flaws, Signs is more satisfying than Unbreakable.''
Review Excellent "M. Night Shyamalan's "Signs" is the work of a
born filmmaker, able to summon apprehension out of thin air. When it is over, we
think not how little has been decided, but how much has been experienced. Here
is a movie in which the plot is the rhythm section, not the melody. A movie that
stays free of labored explanations and a forced climax, and is about fear in the
wind, in the trees, in a dog's bark, in a little girl's reluctance to drink the
water. In signs.''
Review Above Average "Signs represents a kind of middle area in the
writer/director's recent career. Skillfully made and falling somewhere in
between its predecessors, the movie also finds its maker immersed in what's
beginning to look like a career trap. The movie keeps you watching and, at
times, even gripped for more than an hour. But, at the end, it leaves us feeling
detached and under whelmed.''

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
For adults these are some high opinions. It's a bit unusual to see so many "Fantastic" and "Excellent" opinions from adult moviegoers. Obviously, these opinions show that nearly everyone really enjoyed "Signs."
The minimal number of slightly low opinions indicate a movie with very wide appeal. I highly recommend "Signs"!
Cinema Review Prediction: (before moviegoer opinions are collected)
Excellent Movie! And Very Funny! Yes, funny. I know it doesn't appear to be from the previews, but it has more humor that most comedies. It's the type of humor that both kids and adults will enjoy.
This is not an action movie with lots of aliens. It's more of an intense and suspenseful drama about how a family deals with the extraordinary things happening and the danger it poses to them. In fact, nearly the entire movie is shot on the farm and mainly inside the house.
It does get scary in several scenes and will cause you to jump several times. It's probably too intense for little kids or those who are easily scared.
I predict that virtually everyone will really enjoy "Signs." It should receive some very high opinions. There may be a few low opinions from those expecting more of an action movie, but I believe even action fans will be entertained by the suspense in "Signs."
