Ben’s rock-solid, promising future and romance with Amy are turned upside-down with the arrival of Madison Bell. Madison, the "new girl in town," quickly sets her sights on the impressionable Ben. While their first few meetings are innocent enough, the obsessive and seductive Madison wants more ... much more.
Thriller - It's similar to "Fatal Attraction," but not as intense. Most of the
story shows a girl being obsessed with a guy she had a fling with.
She does a lot of little things to get in his life and mess it up.
Not until near the end does it get suspenseful.
PROFANITY: 7 S-words, 3 A-words. Just a few others. SEX/NUDITY: One short scene of sexual activity. No nudity. VIOLENCE: One boy is killed, but it's not shown. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some drinking at a party and smoking. Nothing to excess. ACTION: None COMEDY: Only a few mildly funny comments.

Review Average "The only thing Madison forgets is to boil the Cronin
family dog in an oversized pot, none of which is to say this formulaic thriller
is badly made — it's not. It's just derivative, predictable and entirely
forgettable, the sort of low-expectations genre picture that generally goes
directly to video.''

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
These are certainly some very mixed opinions, which was pretty much what I predicted. Teen and twentysomething females are who this movie is targeted towards and they are the ones who enjoyed it the most. A little over half of them rated it quite high. The remaining ones rated it low to very low. Adult females didn't have as many high opinions as the younger females, but they also didn't have as many low opinions. Most of them rated it around average.
For the ladies, I would say your probability of really enjoying "Swimfan" is 50/50. However, your probability of actually disliking it are fairly low, maybe 20%. So most of you will find it very enjoyable or at least somewhat entertaining.
As for the guys, you'll probably find it to be an OK date movie and you just might really enjoy it as some guys did. But, if you're not taking your lady friend to this movie, it's almost certainly not a movie you'll want to go see with your guy friends.
Cinema Review Prediction: (before moviegoer opinions are collected)
Very similar story to "Fatal Attraction," except not as intense (or as good). It's certainly not a great movie, but it's probably entertaining enough for most moviegoers, especially its target audience of teens. Adults will likely rate it average at best. The teen and twentysomething crowd will probably rate it above average to very good.
Ben Cronin has it all: the admiration
of his many friends, a terrific girlfriend, and he's on the fast-track to an
athletic scholarship. Not that it's been easy — every day Ben juggles
countless hours in the pool (training for a critical swim meet) with his job at
the local hospital, and finding quality time with his high school sweetheart,
Ben's rock-solid, promising future
and romance with Amy are turned upside-down with the arrival of Madison Bell.
Madison, the "new girl in town," quickly sets her sights on the
impressionable Ben. While their first few meetings are innocent enough, the
obsessive and seductive Madison wants more ... much more. Seducing Ben is only
the beginning; she becomes his biggest "fan" and most unexpected
nightmare, as her obsessions quickly spiral out of control into betrayal,
madness and, ultimately, murder.
