Notes:
Freedom fighters Neo, Trinity and Morpheus continue to lead the revolt against the Machine Army, unleashing their arsenal of extraordinary skills and weaponry against the systematic forces of repression and exploitation. In their quest to save the human race from extinction, they gain greater insight into the construct of The Matrix and Neo’s pivotal role in the fate of mankind.
Sci-Fi Action Thriller - Like the first film, this is a science fiction adventure that
blends
heavy duty action with heady ideas. There are a number of martial
arts sequences, literally exposive action scenes, and lots of state
of the arts special effects--as well as a complex story that
requires careful attention.
PROFANITY: 1 F-word, 14 S-words, 5 GD's, a few others. SEX/NUDITY: Brief sexual situations with nudity. VIOLENCE: Many martial arts fight sequences. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol. ACTION: Many fights, chases, explosions. COMEDY: Some wisecracks.

Review Good "While some viewers will be disappointed with the movie's
inability to constantly engage the intellect, few will be anything less than
awed by its eye candy. If there's one area in which The Matrix Reloaded
tops The Matrix, it's in the visual effects department (not a surprise,
considering the budgets of the movies).''

Review Very Good "It is an immensely skillful sci-fi adventure,
combining the usual elements: heroes and villains, special effects and stunts,
chases and explosions, romance and oratory. It develops its world with more
detail than the first movie was able to afford,...''

Review Good "The Matrix Reloaded needs a system upgrade. And to its
credit, it eventually gets one. But for all the predictably fancy footwork, the
heavy-handed opening hour will prove trying to all but the most forgiving fans
of this alternative universe.''

Review Average "The characters are embedded in a now-familiar grab bag of
religious, mythological and pop-culture references that stretch from ancient
Babylon to BLADE RUNNER's (1982) dystopian future, but the allusions are
overshadowed by the fists and feet of fury. More comic book-like and less
intriguing than the original, the film's punch-drunk cyber-mysticism still has a
darkly seductive allure that sets it apart from juvenile, STAR WARS-style space
opera.''

DETAILED OPINIONS
The positive and negative comments made by moviegoers are very
helpful when selecting a movie that's appropriate for you and your family.
OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Moviegoer Opinions:
These opinions don't require a lot of interpretation. As everyone was hoping, especially fans, The Matrix Reloaded is great. It received a very high percentage of "Fantastic" opinions. I can obviously recommend The Matrix Reloaded.
However, there were a few who didn't enjoy it and I've spoken to a few others who were very disappointed. These people tended to complain about the poor storyline not about the incredible special effects. So, if the story is of paramount concern to you then you may be somewhat disappointed.
Cinema Review Prediction: (before moviegoer opinions are collected)
If you're a big Matrix fan you're undoubtedly going to love this latest version. However, if you're not a big fan I would highly recommend that you rent the first Matrix to refamiliarize yourself with the characters and the story. Otherwise, you may find yourself as lost as I was. Fortunately, the incredible special effects will be enough to carry the movie for most sci-fi fans. As for the story itself, I found it to be average at best.
What
if tomorrow this war could be over?Isn't
that worth fighting for?Isn't
that worth dying for?Thomas
"Neo” Anderson (KEANU REEVES) made a costly decision when he chose to ask
the question that Morpheus (LAURENCE FISHBURNE) and Trinity (CARRIE-ANNE MOSS)
had asked before him.To seek and
accept the truth. To free his mind
from the Matrix
Everything
begins with choice. Now,
in the second chapter of the trilogy, Neo assumes greater command of his extraordinary powers as Zion falls
under siege to the Machine Army. Only
a matter of hours separates the last human enclave on Earth from 250,000
Sentinels programmed to destroy mankind. But
the citizens of Zion, emboldened by Morpheus's conviction that the One will
fulfill the Oracle's Prophecy and end the war with the Machines, rest all
manner of hope and expectation on Neo, who finds himself stalled by disturbing
visions as he searches for a course of action.
We
can never see past a choice we don't understand. Strengthened
by their love for each other and their belief in themselves, Neo and Trinity
choose to return to the Matrix with Morpheus and unleash their arsenal of
extraordinary skills and weaponry against the systematic forces of repression
and exploitation. But there exist
powerful figures within the Matrix who refute the artifice of choice, evading
the responsibility it brings as they feed on the emotional truths of others.
Choice
is an illusion created between those with power and those without. Meanwhile,
there are exiles like Agent Smith (HUGO WEAVING), whose inexorable connection to
Neo compels him to disobey the system that has called for his deletion. Driven by the humanity he once despised, Smith will consume everything in
his path on his quest for revenge.
What
do all men with power want? More
power. On his treacherous journey toward further insight into the construct of
the Matrix and his pivotal role in the fate of mankind, Neo will confront
greater resistance, an even greater truth and a more impossible choice than he
ever imagined. You
didn't come here to make the choice. You've
already made it. You're here to
try to understand why you made it.
At the confluence of love and truth, faith and knowledge, purpose and
reason, Neo must follow the course he has chosen. "What if I can't?” he asks. "What
if I fail?” Then
Zion will fall.
