The story that transfixed a nation from one of the most beloved and widely-read non-fiction books of the past decade: Seabiscuit. This is the tale of the down-and-out racehorse that took the entire nation on the ride of a lifetime.
Drama - A rather slow, but very moving, feel good drama that will lift your
spirits and put a lump in your throat. It's a very inspiring movie
of hope and second chances that will leave you feeling better about
your ability to overcome any problems you may have in your life.
PROFANITY: 4 GD's, 8 S-words. Several milder words. SEX/NUDITY: A scene with a prostitute. No sex or nudity. VIOLENCE: Some bloody boxing matches. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some drinking and smoking. ACTION: Several exciting horse races. COMEDY: A good amount of humor for this type of movie.

Review Good "Eventually, Seabiscuit settles into a nice rhythm, and,
as it enters the stretch run, it exhibits all the necessary elements of a good
sports movie. Like the horse it's named after, Seabiscuit has a lot of
heart, and, in the end, that's what won me over.''
Review Very Good "Seabiscuit will satisfy those who have read the
book, and I imagine it will satisfy those like myself, who have not. ...I saw
people crying after "Seabiscuit," too. It's yet more evidence for my
theory that people more readily cry at movies not because of sadness, but
because of goodness and courage.''
Review Very Good "Classy and informative even when it needs a bit more
clip to its clop, Seabiscuit is a coolly rendered, impressively crafted
telling of a blood-stirring story told by Laura Hillenbrand in her simply grand

Review Above Average "The movie's secret weapons are its stellar cast,
whose performances go a long way to ameliorating Ross's ham-fisted use of
foreshadowing and symbols, and its brilliantly shot racing sequences — they're
heart-stoppingly suspenseful even when the outcome is a matter of record.''

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
These are some outstanding opinions. It's very unusual to see so many "Fantastic" and "Excellent" opinions. Clearly, EVERYONE LOVED SEABISCUIT, GO SEE IT! Nuf said :-)
Cinema Review Prediction: (before moviegoer opinions are collected) Few movies have stories that can truly move and inspire you, make you believe that anything is possible, no matter what life throws at you. Men of Honor is one and now there's Seabiscuit.
This is a wonderful movie, full of feel good moments that will lift your spirits. I've already placed it on my "must buy" list when it comes to video. I plan to view it when life beats me down and I begin to give up. I'm confident Seabiscuit will be able to give me renewed strength to never give up.
You don't throw a whole life away just ‘cause it's banged up a little.
It is a story that inspired a nation…and one that almost didn't happen.
It is the story of a country whose dreams had been shattered…and the people who found a hero in an average horse that could achieve the unthinkable.
It is the story of three lost men—Johnny "Red” Pollard (TOBEY MAGUIRE), a young man whose spirit had been broken; Charles Howard (JEFF BRIDGES), a millionaire who lost everything; and Tom Smith (CHRIS COOPER), a cowboy whose world was vanishing—who found each other and discovered hope in an unlikely place.
The odds were incredible.
The dream was impossible…
And somehow, it actually happened.
