Notes:
A group of driven New York scientists get funding from their company to travel to Borneo in search of a rare flower that blooms only two weeks every seven years. But when they arrive they soon find there is something that is determined to keep the secret of the orchids safe.
Horror Thriller - Very similar to the original movie except this one has more
adventure and fewer snake attacks, but that's not necessarily a bad
thing. It spends quite a bit of time setting up the story,
introducing the characters and getting to the snakes, but once
you're there thing get action packed, suspenseful and very
entertaining.
PROFANITY: 1 GD, 19 S-words, many others. SEX/NUDITY: None VIOLENCE: Only the snakes eating people. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: A few people take drinks. Nothing excessive. ACTION: A little slow at first, but lots of action through most of the movie. COMEDY: I counted 17 chuckles and 8 smiles, which isn't bad.

Roger EbertFull Review Average The movie, however, is competent at a basic level, doing a good job of using its locations and a hard-working, fearless cast. The beautiful Salli Richardson-Whitfield continues the great tradition of the late Fay Wray as she struggles to escape the clutches of danger, and Mathew Marsden, obsessed with the millions to be made from the new drug, is suitably treacherous. The movie is competent formula entertainment, but doesn't make that leap into pure barminess that inspired 'Anaconda.'
USA TodayFull Review Average At least director Dwight Little (Free Willy 2) gives us enough B-movie speed to keep Orchid from becoming a fountain of aging.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Moviegoer Opinions:
We collected 134 moviegoer opinions. For this type of movie, I would say these are pretty good opinions. They're not great, but for a movie about giant snakes, they're certainly not bad. Surprisingly, women rated it about the same as the guys. I believe that's because it actually has a fairly entertaining story, fewer giant snake scenes and some good suspense.
Will you like it? About half of you will enjoy it very much. About half of the remaining half will feel it's an OK/average movie. The rest of you will not enjoy it much. I suspect many of these lower opinions came from those who are not fans of this type of movie. They came with a person who is a fan.
