Alfie is an irresistible Londoner who has taken up residence in Manhattan, where he hopes to make his fortune -- and make love to as many beautiful women as possible. Surrounded by an abundance of gorgeousness and diversity, Alfie takes every opportunity to conquer all the women he can, whenever he can.
Comedy Romantic - The story is about a young man and his quest for a good time with
lots of women. It's unusual in that he narrates the story by talking
to the camera. He does this even while other characters of the story
are around him and they are unaware he's doing it. It's a little
strange, but it seems to work fairly well for this particular story.
The story follows him through his many relationships and ends with
him reflecting on his love-them-and-leave-them lifestyle.
PROFANITY: 2 F-words, 4 S-words, just a few others. SEX/NUDITY: Some nudity and sexual activity. VIOLENCE: None DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Lots of drinking and smoking. Marijuana is smoked once. ACTION: None COMEDY: Only a few smiles and chuckles.

Roger EbertFull Review Good On its own terms, it's funny at times and finally sad and sweet. Alfie learns that to lie to women is to lie to himself about them. Law's best scenes are when he doggedly tries to keep smiling as his lifestyle grows grim and depressing. He's sold himself on life as a ladies' man, and is beginning to realize he is his only customer.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
We collected 168 moviegoer opinions. Very Mixed! It seems teen females are the main group that enjoyed it. The opinions from the other female groups dropped quite a bit as their age increased. In fact, only a very small percentage of the adult females enjoyed it.
As for the guys, the teen and twentysomething groups pretty well enjoyed it. About half rated it at least "Very Good." Still, these opinions aren't the greatest so it's a bit of a risk. This is especially true for adult males. Only a very small percentage enjoyed it and quite a few didn't like it at all.
Alfie Elkins (Jude Law) works as a limousine driver, chauffeuring the wealthy through the streets of Manhattan, and occasionally making love to his lonely female clients in the backseat. Though he has his ambitions, he wants only enough to get by, his primary focus being the pleasures of life -- without any of the responsibilities.
