Romantic Comedy - This is a romantic comedy that holds unusual appeal for both sexes.
It is a fluffy love story for the females while it is told from a
distinctly male point of view and sensibility, with many laughs to
spare. Fans of stars Will Smith, Eva Mendes, and Kevin James will
not be disappointed.
PROFANITY: 1 F-word, 2 S-words, 1 GD, a few others. SEX/NUDITY: Some tame sex talk. VIOLENCE: Fighting/roughhousing between men, all played for laughs. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Frequent alcohol; excessive allergy medication use. ACTION: Some fighting for laughs; a waverunner race. COMEDY: Wisecracks, slapstick gags, some mild verbal innuendo.

Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Good Hitch is 2005's lone legitimate contender for a Valentine's Day movie date...Couples will find this to be a pleasant way to spend an evening. Not only does it follow the expected trajectory of Cupid's arrow by piercing the heart, but it brushes against the funny bone as well.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average The premise is intriguing, and for a time it seems that the Date Doctor may indeed know things about women that most men in the movies are not allowed to know, but the third act goes on autopilot just when the Doctor should be in.
USA TodayFull Review Good The downside of all this respiration is a two-hour running time and some unfortunate sluggishness near the end before an unexpected rally because of the most exuberant end-credits sequence in a while.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
We collected 228 moviegoer opinions. INCREDIBLE OPINIONS! With about half rating it "Fantastic" and most of the remaining half rating it "Excellent," I CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND "HITCH." I haven't seen opinions this good in a long time, especially for a basic comedy. Only a small percentage rated it as low as "Good," which means even if you don't think it's great you will likely still find it to be reasonably enjoyable. You can't lose with "Hitch."

While coaching Albert (Kevin James), a meek accountant who is smitten with a
glamorous celebrity, Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta), Hitch finally meets his match
in the person of the gorgeous, whip-smart Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), a gossip
columnist who follows Allegra's every move.
The ultimate professional bachelor, Hitch suddenly finds himself falling deliriously
in love with Sara, a reporter whose biggest scoop could very well be the
unmasking of Manhattan's most famous date doctor.
