When a friend is offed while they're at lunch, Chili takes the opportunity to visit the guy's wife, Edie, and pitch himself as her new business partner at an independent record label. With a promising young pop-star-in-training as his protégé, Chili has to juggle her faux-urban manager, his gay, wannabe-actor bodyguard, Russian mobsters, and an eloquent gangsta music producer to save the label and land a hit - and keep from getting popped himself.
Comedy - This is a sometimes silly, sometimes smart sequel to the hit 1995
comedy Get Shorty. Fans of the original film may be
disappointed by the reduced focus on original star John Travolta.
Fans of co-star Uma Thurman may be disappointed by her small part in

Roger EbertFull Review Below Average "Be Cool" becomes a classic species of bore: a self-referential movie with no self to refer to. One character after another, one scene after another, one cute line of dialogue after another, refers to another movie, a similar character, a contrasting image, or whatever. The movie is like a bureaucrat who keeps sending you to another office.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
We collected 176 moviegoer opinions. On the positive side, teen and twentysomething males enjoyed "Be Cool." Over three-quarters rated it "Very Good" or higher, which is great. Adult males and all female age groups gave somewhat mediocre opinions. You'll notice the very low percentage of "Fantastic" and "Excellent" opinions and that nearly half of the remaining opinions are "Good" or lower. This combination isn't very good and makes it difficult for me to predict if you will enjoy "Be Cool." To be fair, quite a few did enjoy "Be Cool" very much by rating it "Very Good" or higher. I would say, if you're young and male, go see "Be Cool." Everyone else should proceed with caution. There's a pretty good chance that you will find "Be Cool" to be only a reasonably good movie, which still isn't too bad I guess.
