Dick and Jane, Dick and Jane are in love and living the American dream - until one day it becomes an American nightmare. When the company Dick works for becomes involved in an Enron-like scandal and he is confronted with the prospect of losing everything, Dick and Jane are forced to bag, borrow and steal to get it all back.
Comedy Adventure - It's your typical light comedy with a few scenes of Jim Carrey's
craziness. Even though the story involves robbing and stealing,
often at gun point, Carrey keeps it light and fun. Be aware that the
stealing is shown as a way out of severe poverty. They are shown
living the high life on stolen money and do not show remorse.
PROFANITY: 2 F-words, 1 GD (poorly bleeped out), 2 S-words. Several others. SEX/NUDITY: None VIOLENCE: Some gun waving during robberies. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: There are a couple scenes of hard drinking to forget problems. ACTION: None COMEDY: Very Funny! I counted 12 smiles, 21 chuckles and one big laugh.

Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Average In striving for inspiration, Fun with Dick and Jane discovers moments of cleverness, but there aren't enough of them, nor are they sustained. The movie's first third is its strongest.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average ...the movie avoids the rich opportunities to plop Carrey and Leoni into the middle of a political lampoon, and turns to tired slapstick, wigs, false beards, "funny" bank holdups, and so on.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 215 moviegoers: GREAT OPINIONS! Approximately three-quarters of all moviegoers rated it "Very Good" or higher which is great. Also, most of the remaining ones rated it as an "Average/OK" movie, so everyone enjoyed "Fun With Dick and Jane," at least to some degree. I can easily recommend this movie to everyone.
Dick Harper's (Carrey) years of
hard work finally pay off when he is promoted to vice president at Globodyne, a
worldwide leader in the consolidation of media properties.
But after exactly one day in his new job, Globodyne is destroyed by an Enron-like
calamity — and he is left holding the bag.
Dick's sudden reversal of fortune has left him little time to set money aside for a
rainy day. Now it's raining buckets as Dick and his loving wife Jane (Leoni),
watch in horror as their deluxe suburban home, their luxury cars and their
friends quickly vanish into thin air.
After playing by the rules and working single-mindedly to build a comfortable life
for his family, Dick is utterly unprepared to give up the American dream. Taking a
lesson from his corrupt employer, however, Dick hits on a brilliant idea: If stealing
was good enough for his boss, then it's good enough for him.
Using his newfound skills, he and Jane exact hilarious revenge and teach big
business a lesson.
