Drama Mystery Thriller - This is a serious, fact-based drama/mystery aimed at adult
moviegoers. This doesn't focus solely on the life and death of TV
Superman George Reeves but also on the investigation into the mystery
surrounding his death. Fans of Ben Affleck may be disappointed by
his fairly limited screen time here.

DETAILED OPINIONS
The positive and negative comments made by moviegoers are very
helpful when selecting a movie that's appropriate for you and your family.
OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Moviegoer Opinions:
Based on a theater exit polling of 80 moviegoers:
TEENS: There were only a few teen females and they didn't care much for "Hollywoodland."
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: There were only five males. Three liked it and two rated it below average. Only about a third of the females truly enjoyed "Hollywoodland." The rest rated it mostly average with some below average ratings. These are not terrible opinions but they certainly aren't great. Most of you will enjoy "Hollywoodland" but not strongly. This is one you might want to see at a lower priced matinee.
ADULTS: Just a small percentage really enjoyed this movie. A large percentage rated it above average to average, which is OK but not great. Unfortunately, another large percentage rated it below average to terrible. That's definitely not good. For adults I would urge extreme caution. Most of you will probably feel "Hollywoodland" is an OK movie but just OK may not be enough to cover the price of tickets and refreshments. It's up to you.
June 16, 1959. The glamour of Tinseltown permanently fades for actor George Reeves, the heroic Man of Steel on TV’s Adventures of Superman, as the actor dies in his Hollywood Hills home. Felled by a single gunshot wound, Reeves
(Ben Affleck) leaves behind a fiancée – aspiring starlet Leonore Lemmon (Robin Tunney) – and millions of fans who are shocked by his death. But it is his grieving mother, Helen Bessolo (Lois Smith), who will not let the questionable circumstances surrounding his demise go unaddressed. Helen seeks justice, or at least answers. The Los Angeles Police Department closes the case, but Helen hires – for $50 a day – private detective Louis Simo
(Adrien Brody). Simo soon ascertains that the torrid affair Reeves had with Toni Mannix
(Diane Lane), the wife of MGM studio executive Eddie Mannix (Bob Hoskins), might hold the key to the truth.
But truth and justice are not so easily found in Hollywood. Simo pursues dangerous and elusive leads in both high and low places and, in trying to turn up the heat, risks getting burned. The detective also uncovers unexpected connections to his own life as the case turns more personal and he learns more about Reeves himself. Behind the icon was a complex man who gave his life to Hollywood in more ways than one.
