Storyline Heading
In the immediate aftermath of the Princess’s passing, the tightly contained, tradition-bound world of the Queen of England clashes with the slick modernity of the country’s brand new, image-conscious Prime Minister. The result is an intimate, yet thematically epic, battle between private and public, responsibility and emotion, custom and action – as a grieving nation waits to see what its leaders will do.

Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Drama - This is not a stuffy costume drama but a look at the week of Princess Diana's death, giving this look at the British Royals a bit more contemporary and hence wider appeal. That said, this is one squarely aimed at an adult audience.

Critic's Review Heading

Berardinelli, Internet Critic Full Review
Good ...the movie is compelling enough to interest nearly anyone, even an anti-monarchist, and remind us that even the most glacial of icons contains a human heart.

Roger Ebert Full Review
Good 'The Queen' is told almost entirely in small scenes of personal conflict. It creates an uncanny sense that it knows what goes on backstage in the monarchy; in the movie,...

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

Based on a theater exit polling of 103 moviegoers: The only age group with enough opinions to be accurate is the adults. Approximately three-quarters of them, both male and female, thought "The Queen" was great. Most of the remaining quarter rated it "Good," which equals about average. Equally important is that only a small percentage rated it below average. I have no problem recommending "The Queen."
