Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Average His intention with Reign Over Me is to try for something deeper, but the result is awkward and disappointing.
USA TodayFull Review Good Reign Over Me is a much better choice for Sandler than last year's clichéd Click and a wise departure from his sophomoric comedies. Cheadle demonstrates his range with this subtly winning performance.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 160 moviegoers:
TEENS:Three males thought it was "Fantastic" and two thought it was "Good," which equals average. So, you'll likely enjoy it very much or think it's, at least, OK. Most of the teen females enjoyed it very much, rating it "Very Good" to "Fantastic." Only about a quarter rated it average. Recommended for the guys and Highly Recommended for the ladies.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Three-quarters of the males and females thought it was great. The remaining quarter rated it average to below average. Easily recommended.
ADULTS:Males and females rated it about the same. Better than three-quarters rated it "Very Good," or higher, which is great. Most all of the remaining ones rated it average. I can easily recommend "Reign Over Me" to adults, but you really need to make sure that you're in the mood for a sad and somewhat depressing story.
Former college roommates Charlie
Fineman (Adam Sandler) and Alan Johnson (Don Cheadle) meet up again by chance
on a Manhattan street corner. Five years after losing his family on 9/11, Charlie - once
a successful dentist - has retreated from his life, and Alan is stunned to see the
changes in his formerly gregarious friend. At the same time, Alan - who should be
enjoying his beautiful wife, children and career - is overwhelmed by his responsibilities.
Their rekindled relationship becomes a lifeline for the two men, who are both in need of
a trusted friend at this pivotal moment in their lives.
