Notes:
Las Vegas showroom magician Cris Johnson has a secret which is a gift and a curse which torments him: he can see a few minutes into the future. Sick of the examinations he underwent as a child and the interest of the government and medical establishment in his power, he lies low under an assumed name in Vegas, performing cheap tricks and living off small-time gambling “winnings.” But when a terrorist group threatens to detonate a nuclear device in Los Angeles, government agent Callie Ferris must use all her wiles to capture Cris and convince him to help her stop the cataclysm.
Sci-Fi Thriller - This is a science fiction thriller with a twist ending. While there
is a bit of action, star Nicolas Cage isn't the main action hero but
co-star Julianne Moore. Fans of any of the three main stars--Cage,
Moore, and Jessica Biel--won't be disappointed by their screen time.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average This isn't a bad movie; it's watchable but the direction in which the filmmakers choose to take it results in a vague sense of dissatisfaction.

DETAILED OPINIONS
The positive and negative comments made by moviegoers are very
helpful when selecting a movie that's appropriate for you and your family.
OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Moviegoer Opinions:
Based on a theater exit polling of 109 moviegoers:
TEENS:Only three males and they loved "Next." Approximately, three-quarters of the ladies enjoyed this movie very much. A couple thought it was OK and one disliked it. Easily recommended.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Virtually everyone, both male and female, truly enjoyed "Next." Highly Recommended!
ADULTS:The males and females rated it about the same. Unfortunately, only a little better than half truly enjoyed "Next," rating it "Very Good," or higher. Most of the remaining opinions indicate an average to below average movie. There are a little more of these somewhat lower opinions than I like to see so I will urge caution and maybe a matinee. I believe most of you will enjoy "Next," at least to some degree, but quite a few may be somewhat disappointed.
Cris Johnson (Nicolas Cage) can see a few minutes into the future, an
extrasensory talent that comes in handy for his job as a
magician and mentalist in a seedy Vegas club where he
performs nightly. It also has its uses at the blackjack
tables when Cris needs some extra cash.
But his talent is no mere parlor trick, and his
dexterity with the portals of time has not gone totally
unnoticed. Vegas security guards are watching through their
all-seeing casino floor cameras, eager to decipher his knack
for consistently beating the odds. And FBI counter-terror
agent Callie Ferris (Julianne Moore)
is eager to tap his brain to help thwart a terrorist group's
planned attack on Los Angeles with a weapon of mass
destruction.
With the nuclear time bomb ticking, Cris Johnson could
be key in averting a nuclear holocaust. If he doesn't use
his powers to back-channel through the right portals and
change the present, his future – and the future of hundreds
of thousands– could be a thing of the past.
