As decorated NYPD cops Joseph Grusinsky and his father, Burt, prepare to take on a newly powerful and dangerous Russian drug dealer, they never thought they would be turning to Joseph’s black sheep brother, Bobby. Caught in the middle, Bobby and his girlfriend, Amada, are forced to choose sides – between the familial ties he has rejected and a future he cannot avoid.
Crime Thriller - This is a character driven drama with minimal action or suspense.
It's about the strength of family love between two very different
brothers. It has several somewhat emotional scenes, some graphic
sexual content and lots of f-words. Fortunately, it's very well
written and acted.
PROFANITY: 65 F-words, 7 S-words, and a few others. SEX/NUDITY: A graphic scene of couple making out , female breasts shown twice. VIOLENCE: Some shooting and heavy threats of violence, some killed. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some drug use and selling. People act high. ACTION: Just a couple chase and gun scenes. COMEDY: None
OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 47 moviegoers:There are so many movies opening each week this time of year that we aren't able to collect as many reviews as normal.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:This age group, both males and females, rated this movie very high. Only a few rated it as low as average. Highly Recommended!
ADULTS:Only about half the males and females really enjoyed "We Own the Night." Half of the remaining reviews came in as average, which is decent. The rest rated it below average or lower. I believe the strong sex scenes probably caused some of the lower reviews. Also, the story is a bit slow at times and some complained about that. So, if the sex and slow story aren't a problem for you then you should be one of the lucky ones who really enjoys this movie.
