Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Crime Thriller - This is a character driven drama with minimal action or suspense. It's about the strength of family love between two very different brothers. It has several somewhat emotional scenes, some graphic sexual content and lots of f-words. Fortunately, it's very well written and acted.

Critic's Review Heading

Berardinelli, Internet Critic Full Review
Good As cop/crime dramas go, this one offers little that's new but it takes the time to develop the characters and that's where its strengths lie.

Roger Ebert Full Review
Good But this is an atmospheric, intense film, well acted, and when it's working it has a real urgency.

USA Today Full Review
Good Some of the story becomes melodramatic, and the dialogue can be banal, but the performances are strong, marked by conflicted emotions.

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

Based on a theater exit polling of 47 moviegoers:There are so many movies opening each week this time of year that we aren't able to collect as many reviews as normal. TWENTYSOMETHINGS:This age group, both males and females, rated this movie very high. Only a few rated it as low as average. Highly Recommended!
ADULTS:Only about half the males and females really enjoyed "We Own the Night." Half of the remaining reviews came in as average, which is decent. The rest rated it below average or lower. I believe the strong sex scenes probably caused some of the lower reviews. Also, the story is a bit slow at times and some complained about that. So, if the sex and slow story aren't a problem for you then you should be one of the lucky ones who really enjoys this movie.
