Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Drama - This is a dark, downbeat, tearjerker inspirational drama aimed at adult moviegoers. Fans of Will Smith's lighter and more action-oriented films may not go with this change of pace. Sensuality and dark subject matter make the film inappropriate for children.

Critic's Review Heading

Berardinelli, Internet Critic Full Review
Above Average Seven Pounds is an interesting experiment in Oscar-baiting but, while it may make viewers cry, it doesn't achieve its loftier aims.

Roger Ebert Full Review
Good I am fascinated by films that observe a character who is behaving precisely, with no apparent motivation. A good actor brings such a role into focus, as Will Smith does in the enigmatically titled 'Seven Pounds.'

USA Today Full Review
Above Average While it doesn't break any new ground or provide any revelations, Seven Pounds is unabashedly emotional and cautiously hopeful. It's the feel-good movie for these feel-bad times.
