Chloe’s loving and devoted owner Vivian recruits her niece Rachel to care for the pampered pooch during a business trip. But when the reluctant and somewhat irresponsible dog-sitter heads to Mexico on a last-minute weekend getaway with the overindulged Chihuahua in tow, chaos erupts. When Chloe goes missing, Rachel recruits Vivian’s trusted landscaper Sam and his devoted dog Papi to help in the search efforts.
Adventure Comedy - This is a talking animal movie aimed squarely at kid and family
audiences. Fans of the flesh-and-blood stars such as Jamie Lee
Curtis may be disappointed by their limited screen time.
USA TodayFull Review Above Average Director Raja Gosnell previously did both Scooby-Doo features, Big Momma's House and the Yours, Mine and Ours remake, so he knows plenty about cinematic dogs. Still, the children at a recent screening laughed at this lark as much as they fidgeted.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 102 moviegoers:
CHILDREN: THEY LOVED "BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA."
TEENS: There are only a few reviews (all female) but, fortunately, they're very high.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: There are just a few male and female reviews and they're all very high.
ADULTS: For what's obviously a silly little comedy, these are some very good reviews. Most of the males enjoyed it very much. Just about a quarter rated it good/average, which is a bit low. As for the ladies, almost all of them enjoyed it very much. Recommended.
Chloe (voice of DREW BARRYMORE), a diamond-clad, bootie-wearing Beverly Hills Chihuahua, enjoys her luxurious lifestyle so much, she hardly notices Papi (voice of GEORGE LOPEZ), a Chihuahua who happens to be crazy for the pampered pooch. But when Chloe gets lost in Mexico with only a streetwise German Shepherd (voice of ANDY GARCIA) to help her find her way home, Papi heads south of the border—joining forces with a motley crew: three dogs (voices of PLÁCIDO DOMINGO, LUIS GUZMAN and EDDIE "PIOLIN” SOTELO), two humans (PIPER PERABO, MANOLO CARDONA), a sly rat (voice of CHEECH MARIN) and a nervous iguana (voice of PAUL RODRIGUEZ)—to rescue his true love.
