An ambitious young New Yorker, disillusioned with romance, takes a whirlwind trip to Rome, where she defiantly plucks magic coins from a fountain of love, inexplicably igniting the passion of those who threw them in: a sausage magnate, a street magician, an adoring painter and a self-admiring model. But when a charming reporter pursues her with equal zest, how will she know if his love is the real thing?
Comedy Drama Romantic - This is a romantic comedy aimed at a female audience, particularly
younger women. Fans of stars Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel should
be pleased, but familiar supporting players such as Danny DeVito,
Will Arnett, and Anjelica Huston have small roles. Occasionally
suggestive humor makes the film inappropriate for kids.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average To the extent that a romantic comedy is intended to represent a fantasy about two attractive people finding the great unattainable - true love - with one another, When in Rome accomplishes the goal.
USA TodayFull Review Average A little bit of charm is precisely what this movie has to offer. A small dose is better than none, but you can't help wishing there was more to go around.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 41 moviegoers:
TEENS:About half the guys loved "When in Rome," and half rated it as average. For this type of movie, that's actually not too bad for teen males. Over half the females loved this movie. However, quite a few of the remaining reviews were only "Good/Average," or lower, which isn't very good.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:The two males loved it. One of the two females loved it and one rated it average.
ADULTS:Five of the six guys enjoyed "When in Rome" very much. For this type of movie that's very good, especially considering the female reviews are actually very mixed. Just over half of the ladies really enjoyed this movie, but many rated it only average and a couple rated it very low.
