A single, suburban dad, tries to make ends meet as a security officer at a New Jersey mall. Though no one else takes his job seriously, Paul considers himself on the front lines of safety. When a heist shuts down the megaplex, Jersey's most formidable mall cop will have to become a real cop to save the day.
Comedy - This silly action comedy has only mild violence and minimal
so it is mostly safe moviegoing for parents of older preteens. This
is more or less a one-man show for star Kevin James, so his fans
should be pleased.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average After stumbling through a lackluster first 30 minutes that features all the tepid humor one might reasonably expect from a mediocre comedy, Paul Blart: Mall Cop does something unexpected: it becomes watchable, perhaps even passably enjoyable.
Roger EbertFull Review Good 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop' is a slapstick comedy with a hero who is a nice guy.
USA TodayFull Review Below Average For a movie that's essentially a 90-minute fat joke, Paul Blart: Mall Cop is surprisingly lean when it comes to laughs.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 256 moviegoers:
CHILDREN: They loved it!
TEENS: The males really loved it and the females weren't too far behind. Most gave it their highest rating. Highly Recommended!
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: The male enjoyed it the most. Three-quarters of them rated it very high. They obviously enjoyed it very much. The remaining quarter rated it "Good/Average," which is decent. As for the ladies, a little better than half of them truly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, many of them rated it only "Good/Average," which as I've said before, isn't bad but it's also not great.
ADULTS: Most of the males and females enjoyed it very much. There are a little too many "Very Good" and "Good/Average" reviews to say this is a great movie. However, for the type of movie this is (very silly comedy), I would say these are some pretty good reviews. If this looks like the type of movie you might enjoy, by all means, go see it. I doubt you will be disappointed.
