When a couple of lazy hunter-gatherers are banished from their primitive village, they set off on an epic journey through the ancient world.
Comedy - This is a period comedy with a lot of silly and crude humor that
would mostly appeal to teen and young adult males. Fans of stars
Jack Black and Michael Cera should be pleased. Suggestive humor make
the film inappropriate for young children.
PROFANITY: 1 F-word, 8 S-words, a few others. SEX/NUDITY: Clothed sensuality. VIOLENCE: Fights, sometimes comical; beheadings and burnings. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Alcohol and tobacco. ACTION: Fights and chases. COMEDY: Silly slapstick; banter; crude and suggestive gags.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Below Average Year One might get some belly laughs from six and seven year olds, who can't resist giggling at the image of someone farting or peeing on himself, but I found the most extreme material to be so tasteless that it voided all comedy.
Roger EbertFull Review Poor But 'Year One' is a dreary experience, and all the ending accomplishes is to bring it to a close.
USA TodayFull Review Average Year One is rated PG-13, but a better guideline might be: No one older than 16 should bother seeing it.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 89 moviegoers:
TEENS:From these reviews, it's very obvious that this is mainly a teen movie. Most of the male and female reviews are very high. Only a few were slightly disappointed.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Silly movies like this generally receive very mixed reviews and "Year One" is certainly no exception. Approximately half the moviegoers, both male and female, enjoyed "Year One" very much. Unfortunately, most of the remaining reviews are disappointing. Proceed with caution. Make sure that you truly enjoy this type of silly comedy.
ADULTS:This is NOT A MOVIE MOST ADULTS WILL ENJOY! They didn't rate it real low, but most were slightly to very disappointed. Some did enjoy it, so if you truly enjoy this type of movie and plan to see it, you might consider a lower priced matinee just to be safe.
