Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Horror - Like the previous films in the series, this reinvention/reboot of the long-running horror series is a bloody slasher film aimed at older teens and young adults. Gory violence, drugs, language, and sexual content make this inappropriate for children.

Critic's Review Heading

Berardinelli, Internet Critic Full Review
Below Average The thing that's the most frustrating about this new Friday the 13th is how little creativity went into this re-imagination.

Roger Ebert Full Review
Average You're not planning to see "Friday the 13th," and you wonder why anyone else is. Since the original movie came out in 1980, there were 10 more films -- sequels, retreads, fresh starts, variations, whatever.

USA Today Full Review
Below Average Friday the 13th may be gory enough to please some fans. But its witless story adds nothing new to the franchise. The story has been pulled from its shallow grave, but not at all reinvigorated.

Newsday Full Review
Very Poor This "reboot" tries hard, but it’s not all that scary.

D ETAILED S TORYLINE
Clay searches for his missing sister in the eerie woods of legendary Crystal Lake, where he stumbles on the creaky remains of rotting old cabins behind moss-covered trees. And that's not the only thing lying in wait under the brush. Against the advice of police and cautions from the locals, Clay pursues what few leads he has, with the help of a young woman he meets among a group of college kids up for an all-thrills weekend. But they are about to find much more than they bargained for. Little do they know, they've entered the domain of one of the most terrifying specters in American film history--the infamous killer who haunts Crystal Lake, armed with a razor-sharp machete...Jason Voorhees.
