The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
|Based on a theater exit polling of 41 moviegoers:
TEENS:Two loved "Pandorum," one rated it average and two rated it below average. Unfortunately, these reviews are too mixed to be of much help.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Half of the males enjoyed "Pandorum," but not that many loved it. Most of the reviews are in the above average to below average range, which is disappointing. The four females enjoyed it quite a bit. Only one rated it as low as average.
ADULTS:These are not good reviews coming from the males for what is obviously a movie targeted at males. They rated it mediocre at best. The female reviews are actually quite a bit better. Nearly half of them enjoyed it quite a bit. The remaining half rated it average and below average.
Two astronauts awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. It's pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the spacecraft. They can't remember anything - who are they, what is their mission? The only way out of the chamber is a dark and narrow airshaft. Corporal Bower (Foster), the younger of the two, crawls inside, while the other, Lt. Payton (Quaid), stays behind for guidance on a radio transmitter. As Bower ventures deeper and deeper into the ship, he begins to uncover a terrifying reality. Slowly the spacecraft's shocking and deadly secrets come unraveled, and the astronauts realize that the survival of mankind hinges on their actions.
