Comedy - Unlike most of star Adam Sandler's comedies, this one is lighter on
silliness and has some darker, more realistic humor and adult themes.
Hence the appeal of this film skews older than most of his work, not
to mention the lengthy 146 minute run time and tone/story shift at
the halfway point will test the patience of teen and young adult
viewers. Raunchy humor, language, and adult themes make the film
inappropriate for kids.

Based on a theater exit polling of 116 moviegoers:
TEENS:Half of the males loved "Funny People." Most of the remaining half enjoyed it very much. None disliked it. These are great reviews. The females didn't enjoy it quite as much. Only about a third loved it. The remaining two-thirds are about equally divided between above average, average and below average. These reviews are not great.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:The male reviews are very good, but not quite great. The problem is too few "Fantastic" reviews and too many "Fair" and "Poor" reviews. The female reviews are even worse. They are very mixed with some loving it and some hating it.
ADULTS:Neither the male or female reviews are very good. They are very mixed. About a third enjoyed it very much, another third rated it average and the last third rated it low to very low.
