Notes:
Kable was taken from his family. He was placed in prison and then taken to a place where you are controlled by other people to kill for the top rankings of that week. But the game is real and Kable must fight and kill his way out to regain his life, identity, and family.
Sci-Fi Thriller - This is a violent and sometimes raunchy science-fiction action film
aimed at the young adult male demographic. Fans of star Gerard
Butler should be pleased though most of the other names in the cast
have background roles. Extreme violence and some explicit sexuality
make the film inappropriate for children.
PROFANITY: Well over 30 F-words, 19 S-words, 2 GD's, a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: Sexual situations, including lesbianism, with nudity. VIOLENCE: Bloody shootings and killings. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol and tobacco. ACTION: Chases, shootouts, explosions, fights. COMEDY: Suggestive and dark humor.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Moviegoer Opinions:
Based on a theater exit polling of 69 moviegoers:
TEENS:For a young male movie these reviews are not great but certainly aren't bad. Slightly over half loved "Gamer." However, quite a few rated it only average with a few rating it below average. Three of the five females thought it was great. The other two rated it average.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:These are decent reviews until you consider that this is a movie targeted at young males. That fact makes these reviews a disappointment. Both the males and females either enjoyed "Gamer"very much or they were somewhat to very disappointed.
ADULTS:This really isn't a movie that adults enjoyed very much. Most rated it average to below average with quite a few truly disliking it.
Humans control other humans in mass-scale, multi-player online games: people play people...for keeps. Mind-control technology is widespread, and at the heart of the controversial games is its creator, reclusive billionaire Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall).
His latest brainchild, the first-person shooter game "Slayers," allows millions to act out their most savage fantasies online in front of a global audience, using real prisoners as avatars with whom they fight to the death.
Kable (Gerard Butler) is the superstar and cult hero of the ultraviolent "Slayers." Kable is controlled by Simon, a young gamer with rock star status who continues to defy all odds by guiding Kable to victory each week.
Taken from his family, imprisoned and forced to fight against his will, the modern day gladiator must survive long enough to escape the game to free his family, regain his identity and to save mankind from Castle's ruthless technology.
