OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 237 moviegoers:
TEENS:The males and especially the females enjoyed "The Time Traveler's Wife" very much. Three-quarters, or more, loved it, rating it "Very Good," or higher. Most of the remaining reviews are average with a few below average (mostly males).
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:A few of the males loved it, but most rated it average to above average. For this type of movie, I would say these are very good reviews. Females rated it much higher. Half of them loved it with most of the rest rating it above average. A few were disappointed.
ADULTS:The male reviews are very good. Three-quarters of them loved it. The remaining quarter are divided between average and below average. The female reviews are almost identical to the male reviews.
Clare (Rachel McAdams) has been in love with Henry (Eric Bana) her entire life. She believes they are destined to be together, even though she never knows when they will be separated: Henry is a time traveler—cursed with a rare genetic anomaly that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through the years with no control. Despite the fact that Henry's travels force them apart with no warning, and never knowing when they will be reunited, Clare desperately tries to build a life with her one true love.
