It has been two years since Carrie's marriage to Mr. Big. She has continued to write but now as a married person. Carrie and her friend all feel boxed in and decide to take a trip to the Middle East just to have a get away with the girls.
Romantic Comedy - Like the first film, this is a feature spinoff to the popular female-centered HBO comedy series. Sexual content, constant sex talk, and adult subject matter make the film strictly for adults.
PROFANITY: 10 F-words, 2 S-words, a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: Graphic sex with related nudity; constant sex talk. VIOLENCE: A fall. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Constant alcohol. ACTION: None. COMEDY: Wisecracks and banter, often suggestive; kid and animal humor; gay humor.
Roger EbertFull Review Poor Some of these people make my skin crawl. The characters of "Sex and the City 2" are flyweight bubbleheads living in a world which rarely requires three sentences in a row. Their defining quality is consuming things.
USA TodayFull Review Below Average Fans of the HBO series would be wise to pivot on their Manolo Blahniks and steer clear of the mortifying mess that is Sex and the City 2.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 99 moviegoers:
TEENS:The six teens all loved "Sex and the City 2."
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Three-quarters of the females enjoyed it very much with most loving it. There were a fair number who were somewhat disappointed. They only rated it below average. The male reviews aren't very good, which I suppose is understandable for this strong "chick flick." About a third rated it above average. Another third rated it average and the last third was split between below average and poor.
ADULTS:The female reviews are very good, but not great. Three-quarters enjoyed "Sex and the City 2" very much, with close to half truly loving it. Unfortunately, the remaining third, which is a lot, were disappointed, but not greatly. Most rated it average, which is low but certainly not terrible. A few more rated it below average. The male reviews are very mixed. Half enjoyed it very much and half were somewhat to very disappointed.
The fun, the friendship, the fashion: "Sex and the City 2" brings it all back and more as Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) take another bite out of The Big Apple—and beyond—carrying on with their busy lives and loves in a sequel that truly sparkles.
What happens after you say "I do?" Life is everything the ladies ever wished it to be, but it wouldn't be "Sex and the City" if life didn't hold a few more surprises…this time in the form of a glamorous, sun-drenched adventure that whisks the women away from New York to one of the most luxurious, exotic and vivid places on earth, where there's something mysterious around every corner. It's an escape that comes exactly at the right moment for the four friends, who are finding themselves in—and fighting against—the traditional roles of marriage, motherhood and more.
After all, sometimes you just have to get away with the girls.
