Fantasy Romantic Thriller - Like the other two films in the series, this is a romantic drama with
horror and supernatural elements aimed at females, in particular
teens. Violent content, sensuality, and vampires and werewolves make
the film inappropriate and intense for young children. Fans of the
series and the stars will enjoy.

Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average Eclipse is all about getting the juices flowing, plain and simple.
Roger EbertFull Review Average This romantic dilemma is developed in "Eclipse,” the third installment in this inexhaustible series, by adding a complication that has been building ever since the first.
USA TodayFull Review Average The huge contingent of girls — and women with girlish fantasies — who liked the first two movies will doubtless enjoy Eclipse. But this third go-round won't make Twihard converts of the rest of us.

Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 160 moviegoers:
CHILDREN:They loved "Eclipse." Nearly everyone gave it their highest rating.
TEENS:The females reviews are extremely high. Only a few rated it as low as "Good/Average." There weren't very many male reviews but they also rated it extremely high.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Fantastic reviews from the females. Over half gave it the highest rating possible. The male reviews are mixed. About half rated it very high and enjoyed it very much. Another quarter rated it "Good/Average," which is decent but certainly not great. The remaining quarter rated "Eclipse" very low.
ADULTS: Over half of the females absolutely loved "Eclipse." Most of the rest rated it above average, which indicates a movie they enjoyed very much, but didn't love. The male reviews are very typical. They aren't extremely high but they clearly indicate that most enjoyed "Eclipse" very much and no one disliked it.
Bella Swan is reunited with the love of her life (and vampire), Edward Cullen. Her life is back to the way it was before the Cullens left, except for one major thing. Before Edward left, Bella had not considered Jacob Black (werewolf) her best friend, and she is in vain trying to make Edward and Jacob make peace and be friends. She is torn between the love she feels for Edward and the strong friendship between her and Jacob. Can she make them see reason, and can they be good to each other to keep from hurting Bella? And there are new dangers lurking around the corners; Seattle is stalked by mass murderers beyond humanity. Who's behind this, and what connection does it have with Bella?
