A sheltered chameleon living as an ordinary family pet, while facing a major identity crisis. After all, how high can you aim when your whole purpose in life is to blend in? When Rango accidentally winds up in the gritty, gun-slinging town of Dirt - a lawless outpost populated by the desert's most wily and whimsical creatures - the less-than-courageous lizard suddenly finds he stands out. Welcomed as the last hope the town has been waiting for, new Sheriff Rango is forced to play his new role to the hilt.
Animated Action Adventure - This is a very quirky animated western comedy. While, like most
animated films, this has family and kid appeal, its odd sense of humor
and storyline give it perhaps more appeal to young adult audiences.
There are some scary images that make the film too intense for very
PROFANITY: A handful of miscellaneous profanities. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Falls and hits, sometimes played for laughs. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some tobacco. ACTION: Chases, gunplay, explosions. COMEDY: Verbal and physical humor.

Based on a theater exit polling of 128 moviegoers:
CHILDREN:Almost all the kids enjoyed "Rango" very much.
TEENS:Half the teens loved it and half enjoyed it very much. Also important, no one disliked it.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Four of the six males loved it. One rated it average and one rated it below average. Four of the five females loved it.
ADULTS:The adult reviews are similar to those of movie critics, very mixed. The male and female reviews are very similar. About a third loved it and another third enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately the rest rated it from average to many rating it below average.
