Notes:
Frank, Joe, Marvin and Victoria used to be the CIA's top agents, but the secrets they know just made them the Agency's top targets. Now framed for assassination, they just use all of their collective cunning, experience and teamwork to stay one step ahead of their deadly pusuers and stay alive. To stop the operation, the team embarks on an impossible, cross-country mission to break i nto the top-secret CIA headquarters, where they will uncover one of the biggest conspiracies and cover-ups in government history.
Action Comedy - This is an action comedy with an older target audience than most films
of its kind. Fans of Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, and Helen Mirren
will have plenty to savor here though Morgan Freeman fans may be
disappointed by his limited screen time. Violence, language, and
adult subject matter make the film inappropriate for children.
PROFANITY: 1 F-word, 2 S-words, 2 GD's, a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Shootings, fights with some blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Frequent alcohol. ACTION: Chases, shootouts, fights, explosions. COMEDY: Wisecracks and dark humor.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Good It's fast moving, energetic, doesn't cheat adrenaline junkies by being too jokey, and offers a generally fun two hours. The strength of the cast and the ability of Schwentke to choreograph coherent action sequences are bonuses.
Roger EbertFull Review Average "RED” is neither a good movie nor a bad one. It features actors we like doing things we wish were more interesting.
USA TodayFull Review Average All the elements for a lively, offbeat action film are here. Its graphic-novel pedigree, paired with an over-the-hill gang of former CIA operatives, sounds inspired.
