Maggie, an alluring free spirit who won’t let anything, including a formidable personal challenge, tie her down. But she meets her match in Jamie Randall whose relentless and nearly infallible charm serve him well with women and in the cutthroat world of pharmaceutical sales. Maggie and Jamie’s evolving relationship takes them both by surprise, as they find themselves under the influence of the ultimate drug: love.
Comedy Romantic - Although it is appropriately sold as a romantic comedy, this is one
strictly for adults, with lots of sex and related nudity in addition
to constant raunchy humor. There is also some serious subject matter
not shown in the advertising. This is a big showcase for stars Anne
Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal.
PROFANITY: Over 30 F-words, 28 S-words, 6 GD's, many others. SEX/NUDITY: Frequent sex with related nudity. VIOLENCE: A punch and a slap. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Alcohol and marijuana. ACTION: None. COMEDY: Constant sex humor, both verbal and physical.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Very Good ... the movie is worth seeing for anyone who cares about a love story that isn't geared for those who are still struggling with the immediate aftereffects of puberty.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average The movie gives full weight and attention to the subject of Parkinson's and doesn't trivialize it or make jokes (how could it?).
USA TodayFull Review Above Average The everything-but-the-kitchen-sink title suits the compounded Love and Other Drugs. It's a mash-up of several strands of movies, melding a less incisive Thank You for Smoking with a steamier Love Story.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 56 moviegoers:
TEENS:Six of the seven females loved "Love and Other Drugs." Most gave it their highest rating.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Great reviews from the guys. All but one enjoyed it very much. The female reviews are also very high but most rated it above average, which is very good but not great.
ADULTS:About a quarter of the males loved it and another quarter rated it above average. Of the remaining half about 50% rated it average and the rest were disappointed. For this type of movie, these aren't bad reviews from males. About a third of the females loved it, another third enjoyed it very much and the rest rated it average or lower. These are very good, but not great reviews from the ladies. I suspect the very high sexual content is to blame for some of the low reviews from the ladies (and for some of the high reviews from the guys).
