Notes:
For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world – Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings becomes a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world’s great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It’s up to a Marine Staff Sergeantand his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.
.
Action Sci-Fi - This is a science fiction action thriller made in the style of a
military war film. This isn't a huge showcase for any of the actors
but top-billed Aaron Eckhart has the biggest spotlight. Language and
violence make the film too intense for children.
PROFANITY: 1 F-word, well over 30 S-words, 12 GD's, many others. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Shootings with some blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol. ACTION: Non-stop war combat. COMEDY: A couple of comic lines.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average If the intent is to convey to the viewer the chaos and disorientation that occurs in the middle of a pitched battle, Battle Los Angeles succeeds. If the goal is to unveil a coherent narrative, it does not.
Roger EbertFull Review Very Poor 'Battle: Los Angeles' is noisy, violent, ugly and stupid.
USA TodayFull Review Average All of which could be fodder for a fun alien romp. Who doesn't want to see L.A. traffic washed away, along with those dopey weather reporters? But Battle takes its fight so seriously that it's hard to get behind the mission.
