For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world - Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings becomes a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world's great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Action Sci-Fi - This is a science fiction action thriller made in the style of a military war film. This isn't a huge showcase for any of the actors but top-billed Aaron Eckhart has the biggest spotlight. Language and violence make the film too intense for children.

Critic's Review Heading

Berardinelli, Internet Critic Full Review
Above Average If the intent is to convey to the viewer the chaos and disorientation that occurs in the middle of a pitched battle, Battle Los Angeles succeeds. If the goal is to unveil a coherent narrative, it does not.

Roger Ebert Full Review
Very Poor 'Battle: Los Angeles' is noisy, violent, ugly and stupid.

USA Today Full Review
Average All of which could be fodder for a fun alien romp. Who doesn't want to see L.A. traffic washed away, along with those dopey weather reporters? But Battle takes its fight so seriously that it's hard to get behind the mission.

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

Based on a theater exit polling of 75 moviegoers:
Moviegoers reviews are nearly as mixed as those of critics.
TEENS:Most loved "Battle: Los Angeles." About 20% rated it above average and a few rated it as low as average. No one disliked it.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:The ladies enjoyed it slightly more than the males. Just over half loved it with another quarter rating it above average, which indicates a movie they enjoyed very much. The last quarter rated it average, which is slightly low. The male reviews are just a little lower. Fewer of the guys rated it very high and more rated it somewhat low.
ADULTS:Close to half the males loved it with a few more rating it above average. Unfortunately, a significant percentage rated it just average, which for this "guys" movie, is disappointing but not terrible. Half the ladies enjoyed "Battle: Los Angeles" with half of those loving it. Another quarter rated it average with the remaining quarter split between fair and terrible.
