Captain Jack Sparrow finds himself on an unexpected journey to the fabled Fountain of Youth when a woman from his past forces him aboard the "Queen Anne's Revenge," the ship of the tormidable pirate Blackbeard.
Comedy Action Adventure - Like the previous films in the series, this is a swashbuckling adventure film. Fans of returning stars Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush should be pleased though Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley fans will be disappointed by their absence here. Some images and sequences may be too intense for younger children.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Average As a movie, On Stranger Tides would have to be considered a failure. The story does not engage, the characters are stick figures, the action sequences are perfunctory, and the whole enterprise reeks of being a money-grab.
Roger EbertFull Review Average It is long, expensive and bombastic, and the beautiful mermaid has a tantalizing way of not coming quite far enough out of the water.
USA TodayFull Review Average Familiar and predictable, this Pirates reboot is often incoherent and crammed with pointless details.
