Storyline Heading
The Green Lantern Corps is a federation assigned to police the 3,600 sectors in the universe, overseen by an ancient race of immortals called the Guardians, who reside on the planet Oa. Most Lanterns are aliens, but of the six Earthbound members in DC Comics' history (Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Raynor and Jade), Hal is arguably the most popular.

Action Adventure - This is an extremely effects-heavy science fiction superhero adventure that is a starring showcase for Ryan Reynolds, who gives the film some touches of humor. Some action scenes may be too intense for young children, and some strong language could be of concern to parents.

Critic's Review Heading

Roger Ebert Full Review
Above Average 'Green Lantern' delivers all of those things, and for what it's worth, I liked it more than 'Thor.'

USA Today Full Review
Below Average Green Lantern fails to light up the screen. Instead, it's muddled, overwrought and noisy.

Entertainment Weekly Full Review
Average 'Green Lantern' is passable, plausible -- and none too illuminating.

Moviegoer Opinions:

Based on a theater exit polling of 74 moviegoers:
CHILDREN:Over half loved it with most of the rest enjoying it very much. A few were disappointed.
TEENS:Not many teens were willing to fill out our questionnaire but those that did all enjoyed "Green Lantern" very much with most loving it.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Great reviews from both the males and females! Nearly all loved it.
ADULTS:The male reviews are very good but not quite great. About half loved "Green Lantern," but most of the rest rated it above average and average. These aren't bad reviews, since the moviegoers did like the movie, but they aren't real high reviews. The female reviews are very mixed. About a third loved it and another quarter enjoyed it very much but the rest only rated it as average, which is a bit disappointing.

D ETAILED S TORYLINE
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, an elite, powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. Warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him the ability to create anything his mind can imagine. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds).

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal's humanity is one weapon no member of the Corps has ever had, and if—with willpower, determination and the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively)—Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will save the Earth and all of mankind from certain destruction.
