Notes:
Steve Rogers is a young, scrappy 98 pounder that wanted to enlist in the military. He tried numerous times but was never accepted, he is accepted to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super-Soldier knows as Captain America.
Action Adventure Sci-Fi - This is a WWII period superhero action-adventure based on the Marvel
Comics character. Fans of star Chris Evans should be pleased. While
the violence is largely bloodless, some action scenes and images may
be too intense for young children.
Roger EbertFull Review Good It was a pleasure to realize, once "Captain America: The First Avenger" got under way, that hey, here is a real movie, not a noisy assembly of incomprehensible special effects.
USA TodayFull Review Good Yes, the characters are cartoonish (they're comic book heroes, after all), but this is the kind of old-fashioned popcorn entertainment summer is made for.
NY PostFull Review Very Good Adding goofy uncertainty to shoulders as wide as the East River makes for a disarming hero in one of the spiffiest WWII action yarns ever to march out of Hollywood.

It is 1941, and the world is being torn apart by war. After repeatedly trying
to enlist in the military to do his part and fight alongside his brothers and
sisters in the Allied Forces, the young and scrappy 98 pound Steve Rogers (Chris
Evans) is accepted to participate in an experimental program that turns him into
the Super-Soldier known as Captain America.
In his muscular new incarnation, Captain America joins forces with his friend
Bucky Barnes (SEBASTIAN STAN) and the confident Peggy Carter (HAYLEY ATWELL),
under the command of Colonel Chester Phillips (TOMMY LEE JONES), to wage war on
the evil HYDRA organization—the Nazi's deep science division—led by the
villainous Red Skull (HUGO WEAVING).
