A family discover that their home was the murder scene of a mother and her children. The father's only clues come from the neighbor who knew those who were shot. They must find out who murdered the family before he returns to kill again.
Suspense Thriller - This is a fairly slow and talky horror thriller. Fans of Daniel Craig
will have plenty to savor though Rachel Weisz and especially Naomi
Watts's screen time is fairly limited. Language, disturbing images,
and some violence make the film inappropriate for children.
OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 37 moviegoers:
TEENS:Of the seven female reviews, two loved "Dream House," one enjoyed it very much, three rated it just average and one thought it was below average.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:One male loved it, one rated it above average and one rated it average. The one females loved it.
ADULTS:Both the male and female reviews are fairly decent but certainly not great. A small percentage loved it and half of the rest rated it above average, which indicates a movie they enjoyed very much, but didn't love. Unfortunately, close to half of the reviews indicated it was just an average movie, which is a bit disappointing.
A family unknowingly moves into a home
where grisly murders were committed only to find themselves the killer's next
Successful publisher Will Atenton (Craig) quit a high power job in Manhattan to
relocate his wife, Libby (Weisz), and two girls to a quaint New England town.
But as they settle into their new life, they discover their perfect home was the
murder scene of a mother and her children. And the entire city believes it was
at the hands of the husband who survived.
When Will investigates, he's not sure if he's starting to see ghosts or if
the tragic story is just hitting too close to home. His only clues come from Ann
Paterson (Watts), a mysterious neighbor who knew those who were shot. And as
Will and Ann piece together the haunting puzzle, they must find out who murdered
the family in Will's dream house before he returns to kill again.
