They are known as Porthos, Athos, and Aramis, three elite warriors who serve the King of France as his best Musketeers. After discovering an evil conspiracy to overthrow the King, the Musketeers come across a young, aspiring hero, D'Artagnan, and take him under their wing. Together, the four embark on a dangerous mission to foil the plot that not only threatens the Crown, but the future of Europe itself.
Action Adventure Romantic - This is another take on Alexandre Dumas's classic adventure characters
though director Paul W.S. Anderson here puts a lot of focus on Milla
Jovovich's character. Though there is some bloodless action violence
and language, the film is probably safe viewing for older children.
OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 91 moviegoers:
TEENS:Two-thirds loved it and the other third enjoyed it very much.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Two of the six males loved it, three rated it above average, which indicates they enjoyed it very much but didn't love it. The sixth one rated it "Good/Average," which is decent but a bit low. Half the ladies loved it. Unfortunately, most of the remaining half only rated it as "Good/Average," with a few rating it even lower. Overall, these are pretty good reviews, but certainly not great.
ADULTS:Half of both the males and females loved "The Three Musketeers." A few more rated it above average. What's disappointing is that one third of the males and nearly half the females only rated it "Good/Average." A few even rated it below average. Chances are, you will enjoy this movie, but you may not love it.
