"New Year's Eve" celebrates love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts, in the intertwining stories told amidst the pulse and promise of New York City on the most dazzling night of the year.
Comedy Romantic - This is an ensemble, multi-storyline, holiday-themed romantic comedy along the lines of Valentine's Day. There are many big names with roles of varying size from one-scene cameos to prominent storylines. The PG-13 rating is for only one use of the F-word, and on the whole this is safe viewing for most families and older kids.
Roger EbertFull Review Poor "New Year's Eve" is a dreary plod through the sands of time until finally the last grain has trickled through the hourglass of cinematic sludge. How is it possible to assemble more than two dozen stars in a movie and find nothing interesting for any of them to do?
USA TodayFull Review Poor ...it's about as appealing as a flute of cheap Champagne left over from the last holiday. The stories are woven together in the clumsiest, most obvious fashion. Sitting through New Year's Eve is like attending a crowded party filled with pretty people who have nothing to say.
Entertainment WeeklyFull Review Poor Clocking in at an unforgivable two hours, "New Year's Eve" perpetrates the same forced jollity, oversize proportions and crass superficiality as the very holiday it so wanly exploits. It's a movie pretending to party but secretly pining for its own pillow (just after the paycheck).
