When the world's most irresponsible babysitter takes three of the world's worst kids on an unforgettable overnight adventure through the streets of New York City, it's anyone's guess who's going to make it home in one piece.
Comedy - Although this Jonah Hill vehicle has pre-teen characters at its center and sounds like a remake of the '80s family film Adventures in Babysitting, this is a very crude and raunchy comedy aimed at the young adult set, particularly males. Sex, constant language, drug use, and gay themes make this film of caution to parents.
PROFANITY: Over 30 F-words; 27 S-words; 1 GD; many others. SEX/NUDITY: Oral sex without nudity. VIOLENCE: Hits, fights, shootings without blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Alcohol, tobacco and cocaine. ACTION: Car chase and an explosion. COMEDY: Sex humor; drug humor; cute kid humor; verbal and slapstick gags.
Roger EbertFull Review Poor "The Sitter" is another example of an emerging genre, the Potty Mouth Movie. Remember the words George Carlin said could not be said on TV? There's now a kind of movie that cannot be made without using all of them except one.
USA TodayFull Review Below Average ... given the talent at The Sitter's disposal, this marks one of Hollywood's bigger disappointments. Jonah Hill and Sam Rockwell, two of the funniest men around, are wasted by a script eclipsed only by Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill in lazy storytelling.
Entertainment WeeklyFull Review Below Average "The Sitter" plays like an R-rated homage to the 1980s comedy "Adventures in Babysitting," with some "Date Night" and lots of filthy humor thrown in. Spiked with some loopily inspired supporting performances, "The Sitter" is an efficient but uneven programmer, whose most valuable contribution to the cinematic landscape is its blessedly brief 80-minute running time.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 34 moviegoers:
TEENS:Both male and female teens loved "The Sitter." All but a small percentage rated it very high.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Three of the four males loved it. The fourth one rated it average. The one female rated it average.
ADULTS:For this type of movie (vulgar teen comedy), these are actually pretty good reviews from adults, especially from the ladies. Just over half the men and over three-quarters of the ladies enjoyed it very much with many of the ladies loving it. Also important is that the lowest reviews are a few below average ratings.
