Based on Steve Harvey's best-selling book, Think Like a Man follows fours interconnected and diverse men whose lives are shaken up after the ladies they are pursuing buy Harvey's book and start taking his advice to heart. When the band of brothers realize they have been betrayed by one of their own, they conspire using the book's insider information to turn the tables and teach the women a lesson of their own.
Comedy - While a romantic comedy and one with a predominantly African-American cast, this film has a lot more wide appeal than it would appear: as a general date movie, and as a comedy that would also have a lot of male appeal. Fans of any of the stars will enjoy since the ensemble is quite well balanced in terms of screen time. Kevin Hart's fans will especially enjoy as he is a big scene stealer. Language, suggestive humor, and adult subject matter make this inappropriate for young children.
PROFANITY: 30 S-words; 5 GD's; many others. SEX/NUDITY: A couple of scenes of sensuality without nudity. VIOLENCE: None. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Frequent alcohol; a scene of marijuana. ACTION: Some basketball action. COMEDY: Constant banter and wisecracks, sometimes suggestive; physical gags.
Roger EbertFull Review Average The cast is superb. It's depressing to find them locked inside this formula.
USA TodayFull Review Above Average Even though Think Like a Man espouses something akin to the philosophy in Beyoncé's Single Ladies(Put a Ring on It), it makes manipulation more fun than it ought to be.
Washington PostFull Review Above Average 'Think Like a Man,' deserves inclusion in that group, if only because it seeks to rescue contemporary black storytelling from the clutches of men in drag and misogynist moralizing.
