A visionary sheik has a big dream - to bring salmon fishing to the desert. Willing to spare no expense, he instructs his representative to turn his dream into reality, an extraordinary feat that will require the involvement of Britain's leading fisheries expert who happens to think the project both absurd and unachievable. That is, until the Prime Minister's overzealous press secretary latches on for its potential as a 'good will' story. Now, this unlikely team will put it all on the line and embark on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible.
Comedy Drama Romantic - Despite the odd title and unusual plot hook, this is in the end a
romantic comedy-drama that will please fans of leads Ewan McGregor and
Emily Blunt. Kristin Scott Thomas has a scene-stealing supporting
role. Language and brief sexual content make the film inappropriate
PROFANITY: 1 F-word; 1 GD; a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: Very brief sex without nudity. VIOLENCE: A neck crack. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Alcohol and tobacco. ACTION: None. COMEDY: Comic lines and some physical humor.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Good ...look forward to a nicely crafted love story, some beautifully photographed establishing shots, and an ending that is satisfying in an old-fashioned kind of way. By any name, this is a pleasant diversion.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average The movie comes down to a missed opportunity, with a cornball happy ending. Only Kristin Scott Thomas, as the hypercharged operative for the prime minister, seems to understand she's in a comedy.
Washington PostFull Review Above Average Viewers who take the sheik's advice and suspend their disbelief, even for a moment, may well find themselves hooked.
