Action Adventure - This is an action film based on the classic board game, but unlike the
game this adds aliens into the mix of military battleships at sea, and
so there are a lot of effects. The biggest star here, Liam Neeson,
has a very small role as lesser known younger actors Taylor Kitsch and
Brooklyn Decker in the lead roles, Rihanna also has a supporting role
but doesn't have a song on the soundtrack. The target audience is
young males. Some intense action scenes make the film of caution to
parents of very young children.
PROFANITY: 10 S-words; 1 GD; a few others. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Fights, falls with minimal blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol. ACTION: War combat at sea; fights; explosions; destructions. COMEDY: Some comic lines and situations.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Below Average Battleship is dumb, noisy, and flashy. Expecting anything else would be foolish.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average 'Battleship' is a more entertaining film than the "Transformers" titles, because it has slightly more fully fleshed characters, a better plot and a lot of naval combat strategy.
USA TodayFull Review Average Mostly, Battleship is a noisy, overlong and numbing military-vs.-aliens saga with laughably bad dialogue.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 97 moviegoers:
CHILDREN:They all LOVED "BATTLESHIP."
TEENS:Ten of the eleven reviews are males and they all enjoyed it very much with most loving it. The lone female review was "Excellent."
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Great Reviews from both the males and females. Most loved "Battleship," but a small percentage were slightly disappointed.
ADULTS:The male reviews are very good, but not quite great. A few more "Fantastic" reviews and fewer "Very Good" reviews would have been better. The female reviews are slightly better. Still, these reviews indicate that over three-quarters enjoyed "Battleship" very much, or loved it so it's certainly a movie I would recommend.
