Notes:
The only things more dangerous than the threat facing the good citizens of suburban Glenview, are the four guys who've come together to save them. Meet the Neighborhood Watch: civic-minded Evan, fun-loving family guy Bob, tough-talking "wild card" Franklin and the looking-for-love divorcé Jamarcus.
Comedy Sci-Fi - Like most of the work of stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Jonah
Hill, this is a broad, silly, often crude comedy aimed at young
adults, primarily males. Language, violence, and strong sex gags
make this inappropriate for kids, even with the alien creature angle.
PROFANITY: Well over 30 F-words; over 30 S-words; 7 GD's; many others. SEX/NUDITY: Sex with related nudity. VIOLENCE: Fights with and bloody shootings of alien creatures. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Frequent alcohol; some tobacco and marijuana. ACTION: Chases, fights, gunplay. COMEDY: Constant banter and wisecracks; crude sex gags; physical humor.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Moviegoer Opinions:
Based on a theater exit polling of 70 moviegoers:
TEENS:Great reviews from the guys. Over half loved "The Watch." Half of the rest rated it above average, which indicates a movie they enjoyed very much. Only a small percentage rated it slightly on the low side, but certainly not bad. A couple of the females enjoyed it very much but most only rated it "Good/Average," which is a bit disappointing.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:All the males enjoyed it very much but just half the females rated it high. The remaining half rated it just average.
ADULTS:This is definitely a movie enjoyed most by younger males. Only about 20% of adult males loved "The Watch." Another 20% rated it above average. The remaining 60% were disappointed. The female reviews are somewhat better but not great. A full third loved it with several more rating it above average. Unfortunately, about half only rated it as "Good/Average," which is a bit disappointing.
In this seemingly serene enclave and safe haven, Evan (Ben Stiller), Bob
(Vince Vaughn), Franklin (Jonah Hill) and Jamarcus (Richard Ayoade) have decided to join forces to safeguard their community. In addition,
they're enjoying some of the perks that come with being a "Watcher"… like
drinking beer, shooting the shit, and just being guys.
Even with - or maybe because of - their spiffy new "Watch" jackets, which are
emblazoned with fiery wings and a tiger head (don't ask), the not-so-fearsome
foursome initially gets no respect from the residents they're supposedly looking
out for. A group of kids plaster them with eggs, and the local cops think
they're a joke: the Hardy Boys…only far less savvy.
But when the guys' patrol vehicle hits something that leaves behind a trail
of green goo and a tentacle of some sort, and they find a strange, bowling
ball-like device that emits a concentrated beam of energy - they realize that
their little group has stumbled onto something bigger than a prowler on the
loose.
