The true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic outlaw tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant's family in his novel "The Wettest County In The World", the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation's most notorious crime wave.
Crime Drama Western - Despite the more action-oriented marketing campaign, this
Prohibition-eraperiod film is more of a slower-moving drama, and
more in tone with a western than a gangster film like The
Untouchables. That said, there are a number of very violent
scenes, so parents of kids who are fans of star Shia LaBeouf's
Transformers work should be advised. Fans of LaBeouf
should be pleased with this change of pace serious dramatic
showcase; other known stars such as Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Jessica
Chastain, and especially Gary Oldman have smaller supporting
roles. There is also some nudity and a fair amount of harsh

Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 85 moviegoers:
TEENS:One male loved it and one enjoyed it very much, rating it above average. Two of the females loved it and one rated it above average.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS:Great Reviews from both the males and females. Most loved "Lawless," with just a few rating it slightly low with their rating of average.
ADULTS:The male and female reviews are very similar. Half loved it with another quarter indicating they enjoyed it very much. The remaining quarter rated it "Good/Average," which indicates an enjoyable, but not likely a memorable, movie.
