Notes:
On the hunt for a fabled treasure of gold, a band of warriors, assassins, and a rogue British soldier descend upon a village in feudal China, where a humble blacksmith looks to defend himself and his fellow villagers.
.
Action Adventure - This is a martial arts action film done in the style of those from
Asia in the '60s and '70s, meaning a lot of over the top, and
realistic and almost cartoonish, gore. While Russell Crowe does have
a prominent role, he shares the spotlight with Rick Yune and
director/co-star RZA. The other name star, Lucy Liu, has a much
smaller role. Language, sex, and constant violence make the film
inappropriate for kids.
PROFANITY: 3 F-words; 1 S-word; a few others. SEX/NUDITY: A number of sexual situations without nudity. VIOLENCE: Many bloody martial arts fights and killings. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Alcohol, tobacco, opium. ACTION: Martial arts fights. COMEDY: Some comic lines.
USA TodayFull Review Below Average Alas, Fists has a tin ear. Written by RZA and Hostel director Eli Roth, the film doesn't have enough tension to be taken seriously, or enough laughs to be taken lightly.
NY PostFull Review Poor At 96 minutes it is exactly 93 1/2 minutes too long. If they're going to put this artifact in theaters, they'd better charge 1973 grindhouse prices: a dollar a ticket.
