Storyline Heading
This is the tale of Sutter Keely -- high school senior, effortless charmer and would-be master of never worrying about the future -- who, with his flask full of Seagrams and a fast quip always at hand, just lets life happen. But when Sutter is unceremoniously dumped by his obsession-worthy girlfriend, and wakes up on a lawn with Aimee Finecky staring down at him, life takes a sharp, confusing turn. Aimee is different: the "nice girl" who reads sci-fi in her bedroom and doesn't have a boyfriend. She has real dreams, while Sutter lives in his own private realm of impressive self-delusion. Still, drawn to each other across glaring social differences, they begin to fall for one another.

D ETAILED S TORYLINE
With sly humor and an intensity of feeling, THE SPECTACULAR NOW creates a vivid, three- dimensional portrait of youth confronting the funny, thrilling and perilous business of modern love and adulthood.

This is the tale of Sutter Keely -- high school senior, effortless charmer and would-be master of never worrying about the future -- and of how he unexpectedly falls in love and also comes to terms with the fear, beauty and mystery of what comes next.

Miles Teller (RABBIT HOLE) makes his leading role debut as the kid who is the life of every party; the guarantor of fun times; the guy who, with his flask full of Seagrams and a fast quip always at hand, just lets life happen. But when Sutter is unceremoniously dumped by his obsession-worthy girlfriend, and wakes up on a lawn with Aimee Finecky (Shailene Woodley, THE DESCENDANTS) staring down at him, life takes a sharp, confusing turn. Aimee is different: the "nice girl" who reads sci-fi in her bedroom and doesn't have a boyfriend. She has real dreams, while Sutter lives in his own private realm of impressive self-delusion. Still, drawn to each other across glaring social differences, they begin to fall for one another.

What starts as an unlikely romance becomes a sharp-eyed, straight-up snapshot of the heady confusion and haunting passion of youth -- one that doesn't look for tidy truths.
