Comedy - This sequel to the 2004 period comedy offers more of the silly,
mostly male-appeal silliness, this time set in the 1980s. All the
main stars of the first film return though Christina Applegate's role
is reduced. As with the first film, language and crude humor will be
of caution to parents of young kids, as well as comic drug references.
PROFANITY: 1 F-word; 12 S-words; 4 GD's; many others. SEX/NUDITY: Brief sex without nudity, played for laughs. VIOLENCE: Comic hits and fights with no blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol. ACTION: A big fight scene. COMEDY: Constant banter, wisecracks, sight gags, physical gags, often crude and suggestive.
OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 50 moviegoers:
TEENS: Great Reviews from the males! Ninety-percent of them loved "Anchorman 2." As for the four females, one loved it, two rated it above average and one hated it.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: All the males either loved "Anchorman 2" or enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, there are only four female reviews and they are so mixed that they don't help much. They do show that three of the four enjoyed this movie, at least to some degree.
ADULTS: These are pretty good reviews from both the males and females, but not great. Will Ferrell's style of silly humor is clearly enjoyed most by younger moviegoers. Still, twenty-percent of the males and half the females loved "Anchorman 2." Another 40% of the males and 15% of the females rated it above average. The remaining reviews mostly indicate an "Average" movie (enjoyable but not memorable).
